Description

Centrifugal separators
Pieralisi vertical centrifuges constitute the perfect technological solution to complete the separation process carried out using decanter centrifuges.

Centrifugal separators, taking advantage of their extremely high rotational speed, can achieve centrifugal force values of up to 10,000 g. This extremely high centrifugal force is the key element that allows the separators to remove the solid particles that were not successfully trapped during prior separation steps. In addition, the attainable performance levels depend on many factors, both structural (disc type and design, internal volumes, liquid discharge levels and devices) and operational (flow rate, characteristics of the product, quantity and type of solid content, temperature).

The product to be clarified enters the top of the separator through the feed pipe and is then subjected to the centrifugal force and  forced to pass through the hundreds of internal discs. The combined action of the centrifugal force together with the presence of the internal discs leads to the separation of the solid particles that are deposited on the drum wall and later discharged in an automatic and intermittent way. The liquids rise to the top of the drum and flow out continuously through free outlets or centripetal pumps.

In centrifugal separators with automatic discharge, the liquid phases continuously flow out of the top during normal operation, while the solid particles are collected in a dedicated chamber that is automatically emptied intermittently with the discharging frequency set on the control panel.
