KRONEN was founded in 1978 as a merchandising company for hotel- and restaurant equipment and accessories. The development and production of own machines for the fruit, vegetable and salad industry was started in 1992. By this, the products could quickly be established on the international market.
In 1998 KRONEN was taken over by the current Managing Director with the strategy of the further export orientation, which led to a considerable growth in sales and number of employees.
In 1999, with Stephan Zillgith as Technical Manager, Dipl. Ing. degree (FH), the next generation entered the company. In 2004 he took co-responsibility as Managing Director joining the management of the company.
Since 2004, KRONEN has been developing and producing its machines in a new production- and administration building with own show room and training facilities in Kehl-Goldscheuer close to the French border.
As an innovative and internationally operating enterprise KRONEN made further progress in establishing itself even more successfully on the international market, making it necessary to double the production area to 5000 m² in total. In September 2008, KRONEN celebrated the official opening of the new production hall and its 30th anniversary with a special live-concert and event for business partners and customers.
In 2011, KRONEN Corp. was founded in Cohoes/New York operating as distribution company for the US American market.
In 2015, operations moved to new premises in Madison/Wisconsin. The company currently employs 5 people, who are responsible for sales and customer service for KRONEN in the USA.
In 2018 KRONEN had a ‘double’ anniversary: 40 years of KRONEN and 20 years of Zillgith/KRONEN. In September KRONEN invited the industry to a special Gala Evening and Customer Day for celebrating this anniversary.
At the same time the extension of the Management Board was announced: In addition to Rudolf Hans Zillgith and Stephan Zillgith, Eric Lefebvre and Johannes Guenther, both having been executives at KRONEN for many years, become the new members of the Management Board as well as company Associates.
In 2020 KRONEN took over the company WS Edelstahltechnik GmBH & Co.KG along with all its employees and business activities. Since then, the Achern based specialist in CNC milling and turning stainless steel parts in small and medium-size batches in mechanical engineering, is being managed as a division of KRONEN under the brand name WS Edelstahltechnik.
Moreover, KRONEN successfully acquired ISO 9001:2015, the most widely used standard for QMS (Quality Management Systems) in the world. Consequently, KRONEN continues to focus on customer orientation and quality standards.
Today KRONEN employs over 120 people with its Headquarters in Kehl am Rhein and its second production site in Achern. KRONEN has a global presence with representatives in over 80 countries supplying its products to more than 120 countries around the world.
Together with its partners, the family-run manufacturer and supplier of stand-alone machines, special machines and high-tech processing lines for the Freshcut-Industry covers a range of fruit, vegetable and salad processing: from preparation, cutting, washing, drying, de-watering, peeling and disinfection right through to packaging.
Furthermore, KRONEN provides technical solutions in a variety of sectors including meat, fish, vegan substitutes, baked goods, dry and frozen products and animal feed.
