Professional activity of KOMEL Institute covers issues related to high- and low-power electrical machines (design, manufacture, testing, diagnostics) and industrial electric drives. Lately R&D has been focused on energy-saving machines and drives, including permanent magnet motors used in road and rail vehicles and airborne devices.
The Institute is composed of several divisions. One of those is Research and Development Division, incorporating Laboratory of Electrical Machines, which conducts tests of rotating electrical machines up to 200 kW rated power.
Another part of the Institute is Manufacturing Division. It deals with manufacture of models and prototypes of machines designed in the Institute and job-lot production of generators, special purpose permanent magnet motors, electrical machines sets and electrical tools.
