Description

Nanofiltration covers a narrow range of membrane pore sizes. SiccaDania Filtration designs units with polymeric membranes for solids concentration and mineral reduction.

Nanofiltration (NF) covers membrane pore sizes ranging from between 0.001 – 0.002 µm or 100 – 1,000 molecular weight (MW)

Polymeric membranes are commonly used for NF applications, where the membrane pore size allows monovalent salts to pass through the membrane.

NF technology applications normally involve concentration and volume reduction processes. Today, NF is widely used for concentration and partial demineralisation of whey and UF permeate.

Nanofiltration can also be used in the processing of lactose-reduced dairy products and in lye purification.

NF is widely used for efficient concentration and partial demineralization for specific whey powders, often combined with electrodialysis (ED) or ion exchange (IE) technologies. Volume reduction for transport purposes is widely applied around the world.

Applications

Dairy

  • Lactose reduced skim milk
  • Partially demineralised whey concentrate
  • Partially demineralised permeate concentrate
  • Clarified lye

Food

  • Monosaccharide purification/upgrading
  • Resin regeneration
  • Effluent concentration and the recovery of sugar and water
  • Concentration of sweeteners
  • Vegetable protein concentration & purification
  • Partial demineralisation

Innovating to meet customer demands

SiccaDania Filtration is at the forefront based on our deep knowledge of sweet and acid product feed performance, as well optimal standardized plant solutions combined with operator/service friendly HIM and PLC software. Reduced or lactose-free products are also a growing opportunity to make use of NF.

SiccaDania Filtration uniquely combines UF and NF technologies to meet customer requirements for a wide range of consumer products.
